Joe Stenzel and Jared Potter, Veterans of the 2nd Ranger Battalion, wanted to create a weapon that addressed the shortcomings of the AK-47 and AF-15, while also merging each weapon’s more favorable features. What they created is a hybrid of both, the AK-21.
The two Veterans decided to make a post-military career out of creating the ideal weapon after experiencing both the advantages and deficiencies of the AK and AF firsthand. While the AK model is highly reliable, it lacks modularity and is highly labor-intensive to produce. The AK-21 matches the reliability of the AK-47, but offers the user-friendly features, manufacturability, and speed of the AR-15. The AK-21 is aluminum, making it relatively inexpensive and easy to manufacture anywhere in the country.
Features of the weapon include a billet aluminum receiver, a short-stroke piston system, and multi-caliber interchangeability.
