Endorsing the Ensuring Justice for Camp Lejeune Victims Act

The Ensuring Justice for Camp Lejeune Victims Act was introduced by Representative Greg Murphy, MD (R-NC-3), alongside Representatives Deborah Ross (D-NC-2), Richard Hudson (R-NC-9), Don Davis (D-NC-1), and Brad Knott (R-NC-13).

This critical legislation confirms applicants’ right to a jury trial and takes needed steps to relieve the logjam of cases filed by veterans and their families who were exposed to harmful chemicals in the water between August 1, 1953, and December 31, 1987. These chemicals, at levels 240 to 3,400 times above safety standards, have been shown to cause increased health condition risks from exposure, like rare cancers, Parkinson’s disease, adverse birth outcomes in the children of those impacted, and more.

SOAA has long fought to bring justice to the Veterans and their families who were harmed as a result of toxic exposure at Camp Lejeune and we urge Congress to pass this important legislation without any further delay.
