President Donald Trump’s 2025 inaugural address outlined a bold vision for American national security, placing a renewed emphasis on sovereignty, border security, and energy independence. Declaring a national emergency at the southern border and designating Mexican cartels as foreign terrorist organizations underscore his administration’s commitment to tackling transnational threats head-on. These measures aim to strengthen America’s borders, disrupt illicit networks, and safeguard communities across the nation—a proactive strategy in the fight against organized crime and its dangerous ripple effects. The designation unlocks the ability to utilize a whole-of-government approach to disrupting and destroying illicit supply chains of drugs and the illicit networks supporting the drug trade – including military options.
The administration’s focus on energy independence as a cornerstone of national security is equally pivotal. By rolling back policies like the Green New Deal and prioritizing domestic energy production, the President seeks to ensure that America is not only self-reliant, but also shielded from external energy disruptions that could undermine national stability. Together, these policies reflect a cohesive vision: a secure, prosperous America that leads by fortifying its foundations at home while addressing complex global challenges with strength and clarity. The exportation of energy, especially to Europe, will decrease Russia’s leverage over the EU and NATO countries and help to cut off Russian revenue used against Ukraine and Europe.
We look forward to working with our partners to advocate for and advance our national security.
