Luis Avila is a senior advisor and transformation leader helping Aerospace & Defense (A&D) companies achieve operational excellence through technology-enabled business transformation. As Managing Director in BDO’s Technology & Transformation practice, he partners with manufacturers, defense contractors, and aerospace suppliers to modernize enterprise systems, strengthen compliance, and unlock performance gains across complex, highly regulated environments.
With more than 20 years of experience spanning corporate finance, strategy, M&A, technology-enabled business transformation, and government regulatory compliance, Luis has guided multi-billion-dollar A&D organizations through enterprise-wide change.
His work includes redefining the organizational design and cost structure to form a large new space division, advising a global defense enterprise on supplier cost claim compliance, and leading system and process transformation for aerospace manufacturers to improve transparency, competitiveness, and regulatory readiness.
Recognized as one of Financier Worldwide’s “Exceptional Experts on Government Contracts” (2024), Luis is a frequent author and speaker on the forces shaping defense innovation and transformation. His insights have appeared in Forbes, Washington Technology 360, and BDO Insights covering topics such as AI-powered enterprise systems. Luis holds a B.S. in Commerce (Finance & International Business) from the University of Virginia and completed executive education in Leadership & Strategy at Cornell University.
