Alex Zerden is the founder and managing partner of Capitol Peak Strategies, an adjunct senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS), and an adjunct professor at Georgetown University and the American University Washington College of Law.
As a regulatory lawyer, economic policymaker, and financial diplomat, Alex brings a depth of public and private sector experience at the intersection of financial services, economics, and national security. Alex regularly speaks and publishes on issues involving economic statecraft, illicit finance, and economic security.
Alex previously worked in the U.S. government. He held roles at the White House National Economic Council, House of Representatives, Senate, and Treasury Department’s Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence. Alex also led the Treasury Department office at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, as a member of the interagency Country Team.
