As American troops prepare to withdraw from Afghanistan by September 11, 2021, the thousands of Afghan interpreters who put their lives on the line for the U.S. are at serious risk of being targeted by the Taliban.
Over 18,000 Afghan families are currently waiting for their Special Immigrant Visas (SIV) to be processed so that they may secure refuge in the U.S. However, there is currently a three-year wait-time for processing SIVs, and in the meantime, these families remain in mortal danger.
